Anno Agro Industry PLC

Anno Agro Industry, PLC (AAI) is a commercial farm established in 1994/95 by five individuals who have a background in agriculture. The farm is 500 hectares (ha), and the main enterprises are producing and marketing improved seeds (hybrid maize, millet, sorghum, oilseeds (Noug), and pulses (soybean and haricot beans)) and cattle production (milk and beef production). The farm is located in Eastern Welega Zone of Oromia State Government in Gobu Sayo district.

Ever since its establishment, the company has been receiving awards and recognition from the Federal and Oromia Governments for excellent performance in high quality seed production, sustainable land use practices, creation of job opportunities, business diversification and timely tax payment (land rent and income).

Purpose of the Grant

The purpose of the grant is for the production and sales of improved cross-bred heifers, introduction of artificial insemination on and off the farm, forage production for sale to smallholder farmers, and livestock outreach activities to support the sale of improved heifers. The farm has 92 local Horro breed cows, 45 local heifers, 30 crossbred cows (Horro x Holstein) and 40 crossbred heifers which will be used in the crossbreeding program. The farm will sell feed, AI services, and pregnant cross-bred heifers by increasing its breeding herd.
